2000: New Zealand - brown trout

This is the land of my dreams! Sightfishing for big browns in the beautiful uppers of NZ's South Island gets my hart pumping faster. The fishing can be tough. Tramping in with a 15kg backpack isn't for the faint-hearted. These big fish are not always easy to spot and they can be extremely smart. At 70cm this was a true trophy. It was the first fish landed of that day but that's what throphy hunting is all about.
