River sea trout

Over two decades ago I fished Iceland several times. Caught browns, char, atlantic salmon and some smaller sea trout but never anything big. In the logbook of one of the rivers I found notes of big sea trout caught around season opening in April. Always planned to go back but somehow never go to it. Until now! Thanks to my buddy Ad Hulshoff and our friends 'the Icelandic farmers' we had an incredeable trip. I personally caught trophy sea trout over 70cm on all 5 fishing days. 2 were over 80 (81 and 83 to be precise). We fished quarter downstream but it was important to almost dead drift the fly, not swing. Some takes came at the end of the drift too. So if you even go to Iceland to fish for these beauties make sure you rest the fly at the end of the drift for a few seconds. After that trip a few times before making a new cast. We fished small streamers with weighted beads/heads.
